I am happy to report that the last few years have been wonderfully busy ones for me and my family. I have been very productive creatively, spending lots of time in my art studio working on art quilts, murals, a painted car— just about everything except updating my website. I’ll admit, self-promotion is the only thing I enjoy less than trying to understand how to do things on my computer, so that website update has been pushed back over and over, in favor of more fun things. But now I have new work to show off, so it’s time to get caught up.

About a year and a half ago, I accidentally destroyed one of my quilts when it was just a few hours from completion. It was a piece I had been working on for almost a year, and I’ll acknowledge that I was quite devastated by its loss. It had felt like forever since I had finished an art quilt, and I was crushed to have gotten so close to completing another, only to have it ruined in a matter of seconds. But after the shock wore off, and the sadness set in, it became clear to me that the only way to get over the loss of that quilt was to begin working right away on another— one I had been looking forward to making for years. So I pulled out some photos I had taken a few years earlier, and started working on my portrait of Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunt.

Now that was a project. “Artemis” is easily the most complex piece I’ve ever done; it took nearly 16 months to complete. Now, I am thrilled to be able to show everyone what I have been working on. I love this piece, and look forward to exhibiting it and sharing it with the world outside my art studio. Please visit the gallery to see my latest creation!
